The ride is exceptional for three reasons:

It follows the beautiful Hiwassee River Gorge for many miles. |

It takes you on the Great Hiwassee Loop. At the top of this famous and one-of-a-kind railroad loop you'll be passing over a bridge 62 feet above the tracks on which you've just traveled. The rail track follows a spiral up a mountain before crossing itself on a bridge. |

Near the top of the loop, you will see the only (readily accessible) view of the Lake Apalachia Dam that allows you to see both the dam and the lake behind it. |
